Over the past year, Brasco has been working with Wendel, Brasfield and Gorrie, and AG Gaston to design and supply transit shelters for the ongoing Birmingham Xpress BRT Project in Birmingham, Alabama. This is the very first bus rapid transit (BRT) system in the state of Alabama. The new high-quality Birmingham Xpress transit system will connect 25 neighborhoods with fast, reliable, cost-effective mobility services for its citizens and visitors. Investing in public transportation projects such as the Birmingham Xpress BRT expands local economic opportunities for individuals and businesses, creates safe reliable transportation, and is environmentally sustainable. The Birmingham Xpress BRT Project features Brasco’s Straight I-Beam Interlude Shelters. These modern-industrial shelters are designed to provide maximum overhead coverage with a minimal footprint. Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) added eye-catching graphics and identification signage which highlighted the new BRT’s branding efforts. Each shelter is equipped with custom LED lighting, display cases, complimentary benches, leaning rails, bicycle racks, and trash receptacles provided by Brasco. Each shelter and amenity includes a durable powder coat painted finish chosen to highlight the Birmingham Xpress BRT brand. Brasco takes pride in sourcing materials from the USA and manufacturing products at our facility in Madison Heights, Michigan. All products are Buy America compliant.
